Material intelligence infrastructure

A garment has two identities: what it says and what it is.

Weft verifies the second. A handheld reader measures fibre composition from the cloth itself, then turns that reading into a traceable evidence record that brands, laboratories, researchers and consumer platforms can actually use.

Physical context Inline inspection · production floor

Mismatch

Physical reading conflicts with the declaration. Evidence packet created; laboratory confirmation can be attached without losing the chain of custody.

From cloth, not paperwork

The physical product becomes a first-class source of evidence.

Uncertainty stays attached

Every percentage keeps its confidence instead of becoming a false certainty.

Independent methods stay independent

We provide evidence, not pressure to change a score, rating or conclusion.

One record, many decisions

The same verified material record can travel from factory floor to consumer interface.

The missing layer

Information about clothing is everywhere. Evidence about the clothing in front of you is not.

Care labels, certificates, supplier files, scientific literature and brand disclosures all matter. But they describe a claim, a category or a prior test. Weft adds the missing object-level question: what is this material, here, now?

That distinction changes what downstream systems can responsibly say. A consumer health product can explain evidence. A compliance team can defend it. A researcher can reproduce it. A recycler can act on it.

Identity A Declared

What the garment says it is.

  • Care label
  • Supplier declaration
  • Certificate
  • Product page

Necessary context. Not physical verification.

Identity B Measured

What the material physically returns.

  • Composition estimate
  • Confidence range
  • Operator and time
  • Sample location

A new evidence source that can agree, disagree or abstain.

Material intelligence stack

Weft does not replace the systems around clothing. It makes them more truthful.

The platform sits between physical material and every decision that depends on its identity. It is a measurement layer, an evidence graph and an interface for selective confirmation.

Physical world Garment · roll · swatch · fibre blend The object that actually exists.
Weft reader Measurement + uncertainty Non-destructive screening at the point of decision.
Evidence graph Claim ↔ reading ↔ lab ↔ provenance Every source remains visible and independently interpretable.

Material passport

A result that can survive the handoff.

The important product is not a percentage on a screen. It is a portable record that preserves what was declared, what was measured, what remains unknown and what a laboratory later confirmed.

For consumer health and transparency platforms

The best explanation layer still needs a trustworthy evidence layer beneath it.

Weft is designed to complement teams that help people understand clothing, skin, health and environmental impact. We do not ask those teams to surrender editorial independence or change how they score products.

We add a new, traceable input: physical composition evidence from a specific garment or controlled product set, with enough provenance for an independent methodology to decide what it means.

What a consumer platform already does

Translate complexity into a decision people can understand.

  • Literature and health context
  • Certification and brand evidence
  • Consumer-facing language
  • Independent methodology
What Weft adds

Verify the material object behind the explanation.

  • Physical composition readings
  • Object-level provenance
  • Selective lab escalation
  • Structured evidence API

Together, the interface can move from “this fibre is generally associated with…” to “this garment was measured, here is what the evidence supports, and here is what remains unknown.”

From floor to interface

A measurement is useful only when the next person can understand where it came from.

Weft carries the context forward: which panel was read, who took the measurement, what the declaration said, how certain the result was and whether a laboratory later confirmed it.

Built to connect measurement, confirmation and enterprise workflow.

The architecture is designed for structured handoff into laboratory, product-lifecycle and enterprise systems rather than another isolated dashboard.

A useful first conversation

Bring the question your current evidence cannot answer.

A specific garment. A consumer claim. A category where declarations feel too soft. We will define the smallest pilot that can produce a real answer.
